Hana Kimi

Short for Hanazakari No Kimitachi E aka For You in Full Bloom

The drama focuses on Mizuki Ashiya, a Japanese girl who lives in California. One day an incident occurs involving herself and a high jumper she idolizes, causes him to lose his ability to jump. Unable to bear the guilt of causing his smile to fade, Mizuki decides to follow him to Japan and find a way to make him jump again. To make this possible must attend the same school as Sano. The tricky part is that the school he attends to is an all boys' school, so in order for her plan to work she cuts her hair and disguises herself as a male. She must live in the dorms without being found out until she completes her plan to get him to jump again.

I think this drama helped make versatile but unknown actors recognizable. Horikita Maki even though she is very talented was too diminutive, I thought her build and the fact she’s too pretty would raise some questions challenging her ability to even be considered a guy difficult, but she did well in the role nonetheless further along the series Mizuki lets her guard down a bit in regards to conceal her identity leaving Sano who found out early on, to cover for her. The competiveness between the Dorn heads is sort of a focus point in the series. I think the goal in this drama was to be as entertaining as possible, in which they succeeded. Especially in casting Ikuta Toma as Nakatsu, his monologues stole every scene he was in. The students of Osaka High are definitely fan favourites.

My rating 9.3/10
